Carrie K’s new collection is one that is inspired by Homer’s epic tale, The Odyssey. The Odyssey Collection is inspired by the ancient Greek epic poem about Odysseus’ long journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan war. The adventure touched the ancient lands of Egypt, Sparta and the mythical island of Calypso. The various pieces in this collection were designed to look like they could have been pieces worn during that ancient age, and recently uncovered by archeologists. The pieces have the raw, unfinished edge that is Carrie K’s signature look but have the utter modernity of the21st century. One of my favourites is the Moly Ring, which Carrie explains “is the name of the magic potion that protected Odysseus during his adventure.” The irregular bumps along the ring make for an interesting visual effect and the fact that they can be stacked in groups certainly adds to its appeal.
